We started the planning of Adri and Gabor’s wedding in October 2016. They had already chosen the venue so once we visited the beautiful winery close to Lake Balaton, we had to find the best vendors, plan the style, the decoration, the atmosphere and the program for the wedding.
Their venue was Gergely Wine House in Balatoncsicsó, with an amazing view of nearby hills, vineyards and of Lake Balaton as well. A group of guests stayed at the venue while others found accommodation in a nearby town.
The wedding was built around three core elements: a cosy atmosphere, sailing and the Balaton wine region. The welcome reception was held on the lower terrace of the wine house where cool drinks and tasty finger foods waited for the guests. We built a tent on the upper terrace where the dinner took place with round tables and chiavari chairs. The panorama from the open side of the tent was breath-taking.
The main inspiration for the decoration was sailing and water, we combined white and navy blue elements with a touch of gold.
We decorated several trees and the edges of the tent with white and blue lampions, and light garlands were hanging under the canopies. The guests were seated on white chiavari chairs, and white flower compositions in wooden boxes decorated the tables. We placed folded navy blue linen napkins in the plates and added silverware tied with golden cordage. Adri and Gabor made thank you gifts that functioned as name plates on the big day and have been happily used by guests as key rings since then.
For the ceremony we all walked to a nearby church ruin which provided a particularly romantic background to the event, which was a truly intimate family celebration . The bouquet toss, and petal throwing also happened in the small enclosure in front of the church ruins. On the way back to the wine house the guests could refresh themselves at a characteristically Hungarian fröccs point (this refreshing drink is made with wine and soda water). Back at the wine house we handed out postcards to the guests for writing their messages for the balloon mail, which was a spectacular display as people let go of the white, gold and dark navy blue balloons.
After a leisurely dinner, the party was huge. Everyone had such a great time that in the end the gift giving, the bride’s dance and cutting the cake didn’t take place until well after midnight.
One of the unique features of this wedding was that the couple requested a real cheesecake, one that was made of real cheeses and decorated with fruits. The wedding guests just loved it and it disappeared in no time at all!
